The Flat I Had In Cairo
Jan. 20th, 2009 11:16 am[from here]
Fi stays ahead of him, making him step quickly to keep up, up a few flights of stairs passed his place. She disappears out a door and over a rickety old foot bridge that ends in a door in a mud brick tower. She holds the door open, waiting for him.
The place is rather Bohemian, the walls painted a dark brick red, accented with geometric patterns in gold and cobalt blue. Large bronze lanterns set with coloured glass are suspended from heavy chains, and cast a smoky glow over the room. There's a corner filled with huge silk pillows in all the jewel tones, emerald, sapphire, and ruby, all around a huge brass table that's low to the ground. There's a low wooden sleeping platform, padded with more pillows, under a mosquito netting. A huge old claw foot tub dominates one corner of the room, the only privacy a carved wooden screen that divides the space. Another corner hosts a table, piled with books and papers, and a box of what looks like electronic junk.
"It's exactly like the flat I had in Cairo four years ago. I loved that flat."
ETA: While he was looking around, Fi made sure to find a vase and fresh water for the flowers. She's not a total dork like I am.
